Canta Bella Sings Beautifully
Open to treble voices in grades 8-12*
Sundays, 4:20-5:45 p.m.
Emily Edgington Andrews, conductor
Canta Bella offers select treble voices in grades 8-12 advanced training in choral singing and vocal technique in an intense, focused, and positive environment. The repertoire is varied and appropriately challenging, and members are expected to learn and retain music quickly.
This select ensemble performs frequently throughout the year, sometimes in combination with Bella Voce or other CYC ensembles. Recent notable experiences include performing Benjamin Britten’s Saint Nicolas with the University Philharmonic, University Singers, and Choral Union in Jesse Hall at University of Missouri; Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana with the Columbia Chorale and Missouri Contemporary Ballet in Missouri Theatre; Sing by the Carpenters on the University Concert Series presentation of The Music of the Carpenters; and a variety of bluegrass, folk standards, and world music in concert with the Chicago-based professional women’s trio Artemisia. In addition to several concerts per year, singers may participate in retreats, special rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and additional community outreach performances.
A year of participation in Bella Voce is recommended before placement in Canta Bella, though some exceptions may apply. *Audition Required (Click Here for More Information)
